Carlos Martins was born to Herminia Rodrigues Lage and Antonio Martins Lage in
Papizios, Viseu Portugal on February 21, 1963.When his family first immigrated to the United States they lived in Elizabeth, New Jersey before moving to Woodbridge, New Jersey. Although Carlos moved his heart always stayed in Elizabeth where he was an active parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Church and member of the Portuguese Instructive Social Club for over 30 years.
Carlos began his professional career in Unity Bank, where he involved himself with the Portuguese community. Eventually he moved to Provident Bank in Perth Amboy where he became a Branch Manager in 2006. He was respected and loved by the communities he served because of his commitment and dedication to service. He was a member of the Board of Director for the Perth Amboy Business Improvement District, Salvation Army, Perth Amboy Boys and Girls Club and the Woodbridge Chamber of Commerce.
He gave total attention to his community and involved himself in various events, such as The Taste for Perth Amboy, the Waterfront Festival, Celebrate the Amboys and Sisters under Sail and even the Jewish Renaissance. He always returned back to Elizabeth where he became a member of the Board of Director for the Portuguese Instructive Social Club, serving as their treasurer.
Throughout a long course of his life, he became an Assistant Tiger Cub Leader for ten (10) years in Our Lady of Fatima Parish Elizabeth, New Jersey. He was always known as a very gregarious man with a wonderful sense of humor.
